Solar Energy View From a Current Home Owner

Costs of electricity and natural gas are rising every year and the need to offset the cost gets greater and greater. Making an investment in Go-Green technology helps the monthly utility bill and the environment. Reducing the carbon-dioxide footprint will make for a better living environment for all on earth.
Cheap is not a word when installing Go-Green Technology, like Solar Panels, but the benefit is great to the home owner and environment. The value of the home increases for reducing the monthly cost of the electric bill. Home value can increase by twenty to over forty thousand dollars depending on the Solar Panel System installed. Federal and State incentives reduce the cost of the investment by sixty percent over the first five years. These incentives are paid out through yearly tax refunds for the first five years. After incentives, the system cost is forty percent of the actual cost.
For a qualified contractor to start constructing a Solar Panel System permits need to be submitted and approved. A Town permit has to be obtained. The contractor will work with the current electric company to get their approval, if needed. Electric company approval is for connecting to their electric grid, known as net metering. Net metering is required for tying into the home electric meter.
Net metering is like a battery that stores power for future need when the sun is limited. At the end of the year, if a surplus of electric power made by the Solar Panel System has not been used, a credit or check will be issued. Surplus of energy made is not lost and goes back to the resident supplying that electric power.
When construction begins it takes about 3 to 4 days for the contractor to install a roof system. A pole or ground installation might extend the length of the project. Depending on the size of the system will determine what type (Roof, pole, or ground) of installation is needed.
A nice option to include is a wireless monitoring system. This might be an option, so make sure to ask the contractor, if the contractor does not mention it. A wireless monitoring system will show how much electric is made per a day. The monitoring feature is really fantastic for showing family and friends how much electric is being created at any given time. One can see what electric appliances are the electric hogs, saving additional money by turning these electric hogs off after usage.
Cost for a Solar Panel System ranges from thirty-five to over hundred thousand dollars. Project size depends on the funds available for a project like this. The more Solar Panels bought, the more energy is produced. Electric Companies charge for electric used and the delivering to the location of usage. Having as many Solar Panels as possible will reduce the electric and delivery fees dramatically. If more electric is produced by the Solar Panels, Net metering through the electric company will store this as a credit for later need at no additional cost.
Changing from natural gas to electric is also beneficial. Natural gas has the same fees in place too. This is why the more electric power made helps fuel other appliances that can be switched from natural gas to electric. Looking at the whole picture will help to save more on that utility bill each month. The solar panel investment will be of greater value too, for the home owner and carbon-dioxide footprint.
Speaking from a current owner of a thirty-five thousand dollar Solar Panel System, the savings monthly is over half of my previous electric bills before the Solar Panel System was installed. Depending on how much sun is out each day, will determine how much solar electric will be produced each month. Net metering is very beneficial for the months the sun is limited in one's area. During the months that the sun is the strongest, net metering stores all the unused electric for future need. Batteries can be attached for continuous usage during the night. Size and accessories just depends on one's budget. These are State-of-The- Art cool systems to own.
Go-Green technology reduces the carbon-dioxide footprint for the future. Nuclear generated electric and natural gas adds carbon-dioxide to the atmosphere (Carbon footprint). If one contributes in a small form helping to reduce carbon-dioxide in the atmosphere, this will make a big difference.
