What's Up With Solar Energy?

If you pay attention to the news, you've probably heard a lot of different things about solar energy over the past few years. Even if you don't watch the news, you've still probably heard something about it at one time or another. Solar energy; harnessing the power from the sun's rays and converting it to a form of electricity we can use to power our homes and vehicles. Something we've been looking to achieve for quite some time now, and we've picked up enormous speed on that in the past three years.

A lot of countries worldwide are now pushing initiatives to encourage green energy solutions for the world. We all are really starting to realize these energy solutions we've had in place for so long are only temporary solutions to a larger problem. We need solutions that can go on for generation after generation, solutions that are renewable and that could help us all. That's where solar energy comes into play!

Solar energy is something we've worked on worldwide for a very long time and are only recently getting the science down to the point where it can be helpful to consumers and not just the larger corporations. Companies such as eBay and Google have been using solar energy to cut energy costs and help the environment for years now, but people like me and you only started to be able to use them at home in the past couple of years.

There are all kinds of companies now that sell solar panel systems for your home, so that you can get everything set up and not have to worry about paying a ridiculous power bill every month. These systems are wired directly into your utility box outside your house, so if you happen to go on vacation one month and store more energy than is used, your power company will actually send you a check for the power you put back into the power grid! So if you're already efficient with the energy at your home, you could even make some extra money each month with a solar energy system.

The only downside to ordering a huge solar energy system from one of these companies is the cost can get pretty high, anywhere from $7,500 - $15,000 for one home. For the average person this is just out of the question. If you fall into that category and need a more cost efficient way to go solar, you should look into building your own solar panels. It sounds difficult, and I thought the same thing until I tried it. It's actually much easier than I could have imagined!

You can get all the parts you need to build a solar panel at home from the internet. These parts are cheap and abundant, so you won't have any trouble getting all the supplies you need. The only other thing you need is a strong set of instructions to take you through the process. Personally, I used a great set of instructional videos to show me the ENTIRE process. From where and what to buy to every single step of the building and assembly process, the videos I saw showed me everything and more. If you can find a good set of instructional videos to guide you through the process, it's well worth the investment. The videos themselves are really cheap and are a must have if you want to do everything correctly.
Don't wait around anymore, start helping the environment (and your wallet) by switching to solar energy today!
