The Effectiveness Of Solar Panels In The Winter

When they think about installing a home solar system, I am sure that a lot of people wonder whether it will be as effective in the dark winter periods as it is in the summer when there is lots of sunlight. This is the issue I want to write about today. Simply put, they are not quite as effective but that can be overcome. I will elaborate.
Firstly I will discuss how they work as basically as possible. Then I will try to explain what we can do to make them as useful as possible in the winter.
Lots of people think that solar energy is created from the heat in the sun's rays. That is really a myth and is easy to dispel though. It is true that the rays of the sun are the source of the power but it has nothing to do with the heat that they contain.
The rays are still there and break through the clouds during the days when clouds are up in our atmosphere. Even though they probably will not be as powerful and effective, they will still get through to us. The only thing that we have to remember though is to just keep the solar cells clear of any snow though when that is around.
More important than the clouds is the fact that the days are shorter and the nights are longer so there are more hours of darkness. To get over that we must store as much energy as we can during the hours when there is sufficient sunshine.
There is plenty of energy coming from the sun for whatever we need and it is unlikely to run out of power for a very long time. If it does, we will not be around anyway. We can collect the energy in arrays of batteries and then use it during the night if we need it. In addition to that, while there is plenty of sun around during the summer, we must store that up for the winter days when we cannot collect as much.
It is similar to the way that farmers store their crops in barns to feed the animals during the winter. It is slightly different though because the farmers cannot collect any crops in the winter but we can collect some electricity.
So to sum up, solar panels do work in the winter but not as effectively as in the summer so we have to preserve some energy from the good times for future use.
With the way that the economy is today I have had to become the money advice expert for our family and would like to share some ideas that I have found. This one is about using solar electricity as effectively in the winter as in the summer, now that the solar panel price is getting a lot more affordable.
