Solar Panels for Your Home: Building Your Own Solar Panels

Conversion of the sun's solar energy into electricity can be easily accomplished with solar panels. This may sound high tech but truth is, it is quite easy to build your own solar panels for your home.
Solar panels for your home can be build by a company and cost thousands of dollars to install. And then again, there are those which can be built easily by any homeowner who has the basic carpentry skills and the determination to drop the energy costs.
Solar panels for your home can generate enough power to heat the interiors, heat the water in the indoor pool, keep the electricity going and result to reducing electric costs for up to 50%. Once these are installed the electric companies would end up paying the homeowner instead of the other way around. Also, this is one way to make sure that no pollutants used by electric companies to produce electricity would pollute and eventually destroy Mother Nature.
To build your own solar panels for your home simply follow these simple instructions:
1. List of materials: 1/2 sq ft per panel copper flashing sheets (around $5 per sq ft)
2 alligator clip leads
Micro-ammeter
Electric stove
2 li clear plastic water bottle
2 tbsp salt
Tap water
Sand paper/wire brush attached to electric drill
Metal sheers for cutting the copper sheets
2. Cut the copper sheet using the metal sheers. Use gloves when doing this for the sharp edges can injure the hands and this will also prevent the body oils and acid from sweating hands getting on the sheet which can result to corrosion. Cut the sheet to approximately a few millimeters bigger than the burner on the electric stove.
3. Remove any sulphide and/or corrosion from the copper flashing sheet by brushing them off with the wire brush or sandpaper. Turn on the electric stove to the highest setting and place the cut sheet on top of it.
4. Observe the turning of colors on the metal while it oxidizes from the heat of the burner. As it starts turning black, observe the coating of black cupric oxide developing. Make sure to get that coating thick by leaving the copper flashing sheet cooking for one more hour. Let cool slowly on top of the burner after turning off the stove.
5. The thick black coating should start flaking off when the sheet starts to cool down and shrinks. Once totally cool, flush with running water to remove the black coat but do not flex or scrub the sheet. Just use the pads of the hands when doing this to avoid damaging the metal.
6. Cut the necks off the 2 liter plastic bottles to leave a wide opening. Cut another sheet of copper flashing in exactly the same size as the previously heated one. Bend the sheets together so they can easily get into manipulated the mouth and either sides of the bottle. Do not let the metal sheets touch.
7. Attach an alligator clip one on each sheet. Connect the new sheet onto the positive terminal of the micro-ammeter and the heated sheet to the negative terminal.
8. Heat the tap water and dissolve the salt. Pour the salt solution into the bottle but leave enough room that a part of the plates are still left above water. Place under the sun and watch the ammeter charge go up. You have just successfully built your own solar panel for your home.
