Projects and Crafts: Do-It-Yourself Solar Panels

Solar panels make use of solar energy to generate electricity. This will enable you to provide energy inside the house and in some commercial offices. Using solar panels for the purpose of conserving energy will cost you less and get back your money's worth.
While the time away
You can make your own solar panels. It's simple and less costly, and for sure you will enjoy making your own panel.
For a small solar panel, you can use broken and re-used solar cell pieces, conductive copper mesh, glue gun and glue sticks, a multimeter, and a conductive pen or brush-on.
Make sure to check both the negative and positive sides of the solar cell using the multimeter. The positive side is the back side, usually colored gray, and the negative side is the black side. This is very important as bad cells will cause the panel not to work later.
Make sure that the lines on the negative sides are connected to each other. Use the conductive pen to draw a line which will connect them.
Connect the cells: negative cells should be connected to positive cells, and so on. Make a parallel connection to gain more amperes: positive side to positive side, negative side to negative side. Connect them using glue gun and glue sticks and conductive mesh. Always check using the multimeter to make sure that there is connectivity.
Apply a coating of silicon to the solar array as the cells are fragile and the links can be easily broken or be detached from each other.
Power from the sun
Solar panels can produce very little or minimal amount of electricity. Like the one that we just did above, for a 2-cell piece, it only produces a 0.7V (the bigger piece) and 0.2V (the smaller one), and for a 6-cell link, 0.4V, and 2.3V and 2.4mA, and these two are placed near the window. This can light a LED, as long as it's near the window, but can charge a battery as well.
Furthermore...
Solar panels are helpful sources of energy especially if you find yourself relocating in the middle of somewhere without any possible means of obtaining commercial electricity. All you just need to do is buy some solar cells, make sure that the voltage of each of these cells is measured to provide you with enough electricity. These solar cells needs to be protected from the weather too to make them last. Solar panels can be slowly expanded. Meaning you can add more of them as time pass by.
Commercial electricity is very expensive nowadays, and while the sun is up there shinning, it's not bad to tinker around some stuff and produce your own panels. Aside from the fact that they are less expensive, you also get to recycle some unwanted stuff.
Why not pick up some broken solar cells and craft it beautiful solar panels which you can do yourself?
